The Material’s Colleen is a painter, too

San Diego band The Material (@thematerial) might have a chance to play at the Vans Warped Tour if you vote for them on Ernie Ball’s Battle of the Bands by June 10. So what does that have to do with Twitter pictures? Well the band’s lead singer, Colleen D’Agostino (@Colleen52), says to DM her if you’re going to a show and want to buy one of her paintings. If you have questions, you can toss them her way on her Formspring. Beatweek Magazine (@beatweek) already asked a bunch of questions in a recent interview. For more about the band, visit The Material on MySpace, and make sure to check out their YouTube channel to watch some acoustic covers and studio footage. Finally, here is D’Agostino’s art from that tweet.

Artists paint walls of San Diego house

Last month, a group of artists had the chance to spend a week painting the walls of what used to be the North Park home of four San Diego musicians. The group that hosted the event is Sezio, a non-profit organization that provides supports emerging artists and musicians. I caught wind of them when they shared this picture of Kelli Murray painting at The Boat House. If you want to help Sezio, make sure to follow them on Twitter @sezio and become a fan of the Sezio Facebook page.

Freedom found at Writers Block in San Diego

Who do you think posted this picture of graffiti art in San Diego? If you answered Youth Minister D.J. Iverson, you would be right. He spotted this piece, which he refers to as “Freedom”, at the Writers Block. Don’t worry, this man of religion is not condoning illegal activity here. Iverson says the Block is a totally legal place to paint. He posts more pictures like this, and other “ramblings”, on his Mac-powered djiverson.com. If you want to see more pictures from the Writers Block, make sure to visit this feature on Best San Diego and more on TrendyInk.com.
